Ministry of Youth and Sports Invites UMJ Students to Become Young Entrepreneurs

The Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenpora RI) held a public lecture on entrepreneurship at the University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta (UMJ) with the theme Towards Independent Students by Becoming Successful Young Entrepreneurs Through the Business Model Canvas Strategy at the FEB UMJ Auditorium, Wednesday (13/09/2023) .
This activity is a follow-up to the collaboration between UMJ and the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports which aims to increase the entrepreneurial spirit among students by presenting competent resource persons who are young entrepreneurial practitioners. The activity was officially opened by the Deputy for Youth Development at the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports, Dr. Raden Isnanta, M.Pd., as well as providing entrepreneurial motivation to students.
UMJ Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ma'mun Murod, M, Si., supports the holding of this public lecture. "I think programs like this are necessary because after finishing college, students are required to be able to quickly serve the nation and state. Apart from the activities held by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, we also hold job fairs and soft skills training which are expected to support students to improve their skills . "We hope that this collaboration can continue with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, especially in terms of sports," concluded Ma'mun.
"By implementing this entrepreneurship course, we want students to develop interest and then be equipped with an orientation on business strategies. "Our hope for the future is that there will be no mental block in students, and they will be able to adapt to changes in the environment," emphasized the Assistant Deputy for Youth Entrepreneurship at the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ir. Hendro Wicaksono, M.Sc., Eng. when met at the FEB UMJ Auditorium.
Followed by the presentation of material by the Director of UMJ Owned Enterprises (BUMU) who also serves as a Lecturer at FEB UMJ, Diana Hasan, SE, MM, conveying the Business model canvas for concise and effective business promotion solutions. The Canvas business model is a tool in management strategy to translate concepts, consumers, infrastructure and company finances in the form of visual elements.
The canvas business model as a management strategy in the form of a visual chart consists of 9 elements, namely value proposition, customer relationship, channels, consumer segments, key partners, key activities, key resources, cost structure, and revenue streams .
On the same occasion, Knowledge Manager of the Indonesian Consortium for Cooperatives Innovation (ICCI) Wildansah, spoke about the Re(i)novation of MSMEs. “Business is all about trust. The most important level of a business is confidentiality. Relationships determine the future. "Start choosing your friends because careers are always determined by the people we know," said Wildanshah. According to him, as a student you must be able to improve your skills , interests and talents.
It ended with a Sharing Success Story by the CEO of SMEs PACKS, Endriansyah, who shared his experience of becoming an entrepreneur at a young age. He said that success at a young age is not impossible. It all depends on our ability to utilize it, both in terms of connections, resources and how we maximize the network we have. "We must have values that we can visualize and present to always be connected with everyone," concluded Endriansyah.
This public lecture was also attended by Vice Chancellor IV, Dr. Septa Candra, SH, MH, Lecturer and Dean at UMJ as well as students and the general public.
