Muhammadiyah University Jakarta (UMJ) held a socialization on Recognition of Past Learning (RPL) and the Implementation of the Outcome Based Curriculum (OBE) which was attended by all academics in the UMJ environment at the UMJ FIP Auditorium on Wednesday (06/09/2023).

RPL is recognition of a person's learning obtained from formal, non-formal, informal education, and/or work experience as a basis for continuing formal education and for equivalency with certain qualifications.

Apart from supporting government programs, this RPL program aims to foster a culture of learning and motivation to carry out continuous education and training, and lifelong learning through recognition of course credits from formal, informal education, and/or work experience through fulfilling learning outcomes as planned by government programs.

UMJ Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ma'mun Murod, M.Si stated that this was an opportunity for UMJ. "Currently, the total number of our students has exceeded the number of students from last year, this is something we have to do seriously. "We must be able to take it and work around it in such a way," stressed Ma'mun.

In line with Ma'mun's statement, Deputy Chancellor I for Academic Affairs Dr. Muhammad Hadi, S.KM., M.Kes. stated that this program is an opportunity to increase the number of students. "Seeing the number of new RPL program students, which currently number almost 1000, is extraordinary potential that we must exploit," added Muhammad Hadi.

On the same occasion, Professor of the UMJ Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Budiyanto, ST, MT, also said that the aim and objective of this RPL is to create standards for each faculty regarding the recognition of credits for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degrees.

Coordinator of the FIP UMJ Professional Teacher Education Program (PPG), Prof. Dr. Herwina Bahar, MA, conveyed the standards for implementing the OBE curriculum. “This is part of the RPL team which is working together to design and prepare RPL guidelines. The curriculum becomes the soul or heart of the RPL preparation process. "The OBE curriculum approach is how the learning process is developed, there is a learning and teaching process ." explained Herwina.
