Televisi Muhammadiyah (TVMu) in collaboration with Muhammadiyah University Jakarta (UMJ) held a Digital Television seminar with the theme Gen Z and the Future of Broadcasting which was attended by 2023 new students (maba) of Muhammadiyah University Jakarta on Wednesday, (20/09/2023) at the Building UMJ Scholar. This seminar was held as part of the TVMu Goes to Campus UMJ program which was held by TVmu to commemorate the decade's anniversary.

TVMu Main Director, Dr. Makroen Sanjaya, M.Sos., introduced TVMu to new students. TVMu is part of the private national TV broadcaster. Currently TVMu is circulating in several areas, namely Jabodetabek, Banten and Bandung. "Hopefully TVMu can develop further with the support of students," explained Makroen.

Followed by the second resource person, Mulkan Habibie, S.Kom.I., MIKom., who explained about consuming media intelligently. Mulkan said the strategy that needs to be carried out in using social media is smart and wise. Based on a survey in 2021, as many as 88% of children aged 5 years and over have consumed internet media. Of the 88% of internet users, the most accessed is social media.

Generation Z is very synonymous with technology, not only as users but also skilled at using technology. According to several surveys, generation Z is characterized by a caring attitude towards global issues. However, generation Z also has weaknesses, namely that they tend to be individualistic and dependent on technology.

"If you don't use the media wisely, it won't have a good effect. The student indicator is intellectual, therefore the information you receive must be Tabayyun (researching the news). "Let's be smart in choosing media, starting today, use the internet for needs that are beneficial for the future," concluded Mulkan.

Closing the conversation, Mulkan gave a message to all students. “Be careful with the source of the information you receive, because it will become your thoughts. "Be careful with your thoughts because they will become your words," stressed Mulkan. Apart from seminars, this activity also includes coaching clinics, presenter competitions and quizzes.
