UMJ Faculty of Engineering Holds Journalism Workshop for Students

Public Relations of the Faculty of Engineering, Muhammadiyah University, Jakarta (FT UMJ) held a Journalism Workshop to enrich and improve student competence in the field of journalism and was attended by 25 students from various study programs, which was held in the Djoeanda Hall, Faculty of Engineering, UMJ Campaka Putih, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (4/10 /2023).

Deputy Dean III UMJ Faculty of Engineering Ir. Harwidyo Eko Prasetyo, ST, MT, welcomed the enthusiasm of the participants and hoped that this activity could become a basis for developing their journalistic skills.

“Journalism is a very important skill in the academic and professional world. "By holding workshops like this, we hope that students can gain in-depth knowledge and understanding about the world of journalism," he said.

Agung Dwi Ertata delivered a presentation about journalism to student training participants in the Djoeanda Hall, Wednesday (04/10/2023).

This activity invited a journalistic expert resource person from Kompas , namely Agung Dwi Ertata, who shared his experiences and useful tips with the participants. The event ran with full active interaction between resource persons and participants.

Participants had the opportunity to understand more deeply the basic principles of journalism, good news writing, and journalistic ethics. Participants are given the task of creating material to plan a news story to be presented, then the three best plans will receive prizes from the committee.

The event closed with a Closing Statement and the hope that this workshop would spark the interest of UMJ Faculty of Engineering students to study journalism more deeply and join the UMJ FT Journalism team. This hope is in line with the UMJ Faculty of Engineering's commitment to providing holistic education to students, which goes beyond the boundaries of the academic curriculum.
