UMJ Students Won 4 Categories in the National Woodball Championship

Another proud achievement was made by Muhammadiyah University Jakarta (UMJ) students , who succeeded in winning four categories at once in the 2023 National Woodball Championship between universities throughout Indonesia. This championship was held by the Jakarta State University (UNJ) on Friday (06/10/ 2023) at the Ragunan Camping Field.

This achievement was achieved by Sports Education students from the Faculty of Education, Muhammadiyah University, Jakarta (POR FIP UMJ) and the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UMJ , bringing four awards including 2nd place in the women's single stroke which was won by Diah Ayu Cahyani, 2nd place in the women's stroke team which was consisting of Diah Ayu Cahyani, Rafika, and Firda, 2nd place winner in the men's stroke team consisting of Alvino Surya, Andi Muhammad Ramadhan, Imannudin Mukin, and Gusnaira Fitmatan, and 3rd place in mixed fairway won by Andi Suprianto and Rafika Fauzia.

When interviewed, Gusnaira, representing his team, admitted that he was grateful for this achievement with three weeks of preparation. “Alhamdulillah, we are very proud and happy. I hope that in the future we can introduce Woodball at UMJ. "Apart from that, I want woodball to become a sport that can change the fate of students," said Gusnaira.

Responding to this, Ika Yulianingsih, M.Pd., as the supervisor during the preparation for the national Woodball championship, expressed her hopes. "I hope that in the future more and more new athletes will emerge from UMJ and friends who have joined can train more actively to bring UMJ's name to the international stage and always be supported by the university,"

Woodball is a sport that is similar to the game of golf. However, the tool used in this woodball sport is a mallet. Meanwhile, the ball used is made of wood which has a larger diameter than a golf ball. Apart from that, the holes in golf have been replaced with gates made of wood shaped like 2 bottles.
