The Technical Services Unit of the Business and Entrepreneurship Incubator Center of Muhammadiyah University Jakarta (UPT PIBK UMJ) held entrepreneurship training entitled Building Brands and Product Certification in the Old Rectorate Meeting Room of Muhammadiyah University Jakarta ( UMJ ), Saturday (7/10/23).
Indonesia has strong potential to become a developed country. Economic improvement can be achieved if the entrepreneurship ratio is at least 4 (four) percent of the population. To achieve this ratio, it is important to develop national entrepreneurship.
The role of students in entrepreneurship is very large in the development of national entrepreneurship. However, the problems that are often faced are the absence of business certification and products that are not yet known to the public. This causes low confidence in the product and discourages consumers from buying. That is what prompted this training.
Participants in this activity were 40 entrepreneurial students who received funding from the Entrepreneurial Student Development Program (P2MW) and the Entrepreneurial Student Creativity Program (PKM-K) of the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology.
Head of the Technical Services Unit of the Business and Entrepreneurship Incubator Center (UPT PIBK UMJ) Dessy Iriani Putri SP, M.Sc., said that certification is very important for new business actors. Dessy added that participants in this training program are new business actors and need to understand about building product brands.
"The hope is that students will become aware because with legality, it can attract consumers and it is also important to build a brand ," concluded Dessy.
Owner of Madu Mutiara Sri Hidayat, SP, the first speaker discussed product certification. He shared his experience that product certification is very important to attract consumers, moreover certification also prevents violations of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) from being stolen.
Furthermore, Hidayat, assisted by his staff, explained to the participants the guide process for applying for permits through the one-stop electronic portal created by the government, namely Online Single Submission (OSS). OSS is used in processing business permits by business actors in the form of business entities or individuals, micro, small, medium and large businesses, individual businesses or business entities, both new and established.
Next, Brand Manager Stella Dianty Khairunissa delivered material on building product brands . Dianty explained that the owner must know what identity he wants to build for the product he owns. "You have to be confident when talking about the products you have," said Dianty.
Then, Dianty also said that after knowing the direction of the identity of the product you want to build, you need to pay attention to how to create a story for the product you have. Dianty also shared five steps in building a story, namely identifying business opportunities, insight into consumer experiences with the product, determining consumer experience insights that suit the product, developing stories and placing consumer experiences into the product.
